Bukit Brown Cemetery Documentation Project

Exhumation and Re-Interment Documentation Co-ordinator: Conducting visual sociological documentary work on the social, cultural and religious life of Bukit Brown Cemetery, particularly rituals surrounding exhumation and remembrance of graves.

 

The Tanjong Pagar Railway Station and Keretapi Tanah Melayu (KTM) Railway Experience Oral History Project

Project Co-Lead: Coordinating, recruiting and supervising research assistants. Production of project website, photo-elicitation apps and document sharing system.

 

Understanding Transient Aesthetic Markers in Chinese Singapore

Principal Investigator: Photographing and investigating the ways in which Chinese Singaporeans make their ethnicity through the use of fluid and transient material artefacts, aka aesthetic markers. The initial project was funded by the UniSIM Centre for Chinese Studies Small Research Grant.

 

A new project building on the findings of this study is scheduled to begin in 2013 to investigate the cultural geography of spirit mediums in suburban Singapore.
